Crisis Intervention Team for Youth Training

Course Date/location:  April 6 & 7, 2026, 8am – 3pm.  Beverly Police Dept. 175 Elliott St., Beverly MA 01915

Crisis Intervention Teams (CITs) are local initiatives designed to improve the way law enforcement and the community respond to youth experiencing behavioral health and intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) crises.  They are built on strong partnerships between law enforcement, behavioral health provider agencies, I/DD providers and individuals and families affected by these disabilities.

Topics Covered:

Understanding CIT, Developmental stages, Childhood Trauma (ACES), Youth behavioral and psychiatric symptoms and conditions, Youth Substance use and brain development, Youth Suicide prevention, LGBTQIA+, School based interventions and Effective de-escalation and interventions

Who should attend:

Police Officers, School Resource Officers, First Responders, Co-response Clinicians, Jail Diversion Clinicians
