Samuel ‘Ted’ Lane

Samuel “Ted” Lane holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from UMass Amherst and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice with a Certificate in Forensic Psychology from UMass Lowell. Ted began his law enforcement career in 2005 after graduating from the Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) Academy, where he was honored with the Brian J. Daley Academic Award of Excellence.

Currently serving as a patrolman for the Beverly Police Department, Ted has been a dedicated member of the force since 2005. Over the past two years, he has been an integral part of the Community Impact Unit, where he applies his expertise to address and resolve community issues. In addition to his patrol duties, Ted is a certified MPTC instructor and leads training sessions in CPR, First Responder techniques, and Narcan administration at the Beverly Police Department.

Ted is extensively trained in mental health first aid and Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) methodologies. He holds certifications as a CIT Coordinator and Instructor and is a skilled member of the Northeast Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s (NEMLEC) Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team. His professional training includes advanced individual and group crisis intervention techniques.

Before joining the Beverly Police Department, Ted accumulated a decade of experience as a paramedic, including four years as a Flight Medic Critical Care Transport Specialist for Boston MedFlight. His background as a paramedic has significantly contributed to his comprehensive approach to law enforcement and crisis management.

Ted’s multifaceted experience in emergency medical services and law enforcement gives him a unique perspective on crisis intervention and community engagement.
