PTSD911” Documentary Screening to Be Held at The Cabot Theater – A Powerful Look at First Responder Mental Health
Beverly, MA – Monday September 29, 2025, 7:00 PM — The NE Essex County CIT-TTAC will host a special screening of the powerful and timely documentary PTSD911, a film that sheds light on the often-overlooked mental health struggles faced by first responders. This one-night-only event aims to raise awareness and foster a community conversation about the vital need for mental wellness resources and support for those who protect and serve.
PTSD911 explores the personal stories of police officers, firefighters, dispatchers and EMS personnel who confront the daily traumas of their jobs—and the toll those experiences can take on their mental health. Through compelling interviews and real-life footage, the film emphasizes the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding mental health in public safety professions.
This screening aligns with the mission of the Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act (LEMHWA), which provides funding to increase access to mental health services for law enforcement officers and their families. The program supports initiatives that include:
- Expanding agency capacity for mental health and wellness training and support for officers and their families.
- Establishing and enhancing peer support networks for both crisis and non-crisis scenarios.
- Reducing stigma around officer mental health through education and the development of new resources.
Attendees will not only gain a deeper understanding of the emotional burden carried by first responders, but also learn about innovative approaches and resources aimed at fostering resilience and healing within these critical communities.
